This week unveiled the next iteration of its leading CRM platform. SkyPlanner, South Florida's Salesforce consulting company, has learned that Salesforce Lightning is much more than just a visual or UI overhaul. It is a complete re-imagining of the entire framework of the Salesforce system aimed at allowing Salesforce customers to increase all aspects of their sales efforts.

Companies and organizations big and small across a vast landscape of industries trust Salesforce and its products to drive their growth across Salesforce listened to more than 150,000 customers and used the feedback to completely rebuild Salesforce from the ground up. Salesforce Lightning combines new elements - Lightning Experience and Lightning Design System - with the previously released Lightning Components and Lightning App Builder. These tools empower users to create enterprise apps faster and more easily. The advent of Salesforce Lightning has been a few years in the making; beginning with the release of Salesforce1 for mobile business and the more recent release of the aforementioned Lightning Components and Lightning App Builder in 2014.

As mentioned above Salesforce Lightning is comprised of these three parts (as described by Salesforce):
  • Lightning Experience The Lightning Experience brings a consumer-grade experience that is modern, efficient and intelligent to every Salesforce user on every device—desktop, tablet and mobile. Relevant information is surfaced for each screen, streamlining processes and making workflows more intuitive.
  • Lightning Design System Based on Salesforce’s new design principles (clarity, efficiency, consistency and beauty), this system translates these principles into extensible Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). The Design System is a how-to manual for Salesforce developers, enabling any developer or partner to build beautiful components that work with Salesforce on every device and operating system.
  • Lightning App Builder and Lightning Components Announced at Dreamforce 2014 and made generally available last month, Lightning App Builder is an intuitive way to build apps using a drag-and-drop visual interface of Lightning Components—reusable app building blocks that can be anything from single UI elements to robust microservices, all connected to the Salesforce1 Platform.
With the introduction of Salesforce Lightning also come a heavily upgraded Salesforce Sales Cloud. The benefits of the Lightning-built Sales Cloud include the ability to sell faster thaks to tools such as the sales information aggregator Account Insights and action-automation tool Assistant; sell smarter using tools such as a new Pipeline Board, Activity Feed, and improved collaboration tools powered by Chatter; and customize the way you sell with improved dashboards and new processes such as Sales Path. Because the new Sales Cloud is built on the foundation of the Salesforce1 Platform users can build almost any app imaginable thanks to the App Builder, Lightning Components and the extensive library of third-party apps available through the Salesforce AppExchange.
